THE NEWS

Polanski goes back to work!
Roman Polanski and Robert Harris are teaming up again for a political thriller on the Dreyfus Affair, a project that gets a very Kafkaesque title, "D". Polanski announced that he wanted to treat the story "not as a costume drama but as a spy story. In this way one can show its absolute relevance to what is happening in today’s world – the age-old spectacle of the witch-hunt of a minority group, security paranoia, secret military tribunals, out-of-control intelligence agencies, governmental cover-ups, and a rabid press.” From Polanski's statement it looks like all of his favorite themes are reunited! The film will be produced by Alain Sarde and Robert Benmussa. It's nice to see a director finally tackling a serious event in French history!

What is happening on Tarantino's Django Unchained?
A few weeks ago, it was announced that Kevin Costner had left Tarantino's film. Now, both Kurt Russell and Sacha Baron Cohen have announced that they won't be part of the project after all. Cohen says it's because of a scheduling conflict, but Russell has yet to give an explanation. So we hope that everything is going well on that shooting and that Tarantino will soon find their replacements if he wants to meet that December 25th deadline.

Scorsese keeps surprising us!
After Jonah Hill, the awesome Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) is now joining The Wolf of Wall Street. He will play the FBI agent who arrested Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio), a stockbroker convicted for security fraud and money laundering in 1998. Hill will play Belfort's business partner.

Out with Jolie, In with Diaz
It turns out that Angelina Jolie won't be appearing in Ridley Scott's The Counselor after all... Cameron Diaz is replacing her. Let's hope this change will turn out well, Diaz has yet to show that she can take on complex roles.

That's if for today!

Viddy Well!
